The Joys
This is the overall experience that got me into buying vecicles via auction. This vehicle definetly hit a deer. It arrived the next day after a tropicas storm came through central north carolina. Somehow the drivers passenger window was all the way down. The top was up, but the full drivers side was soaking wet. This in turn caused the under-seat immobilizer module to have corroded connections. Which disabled the remote lock/unlock as well as the window functionality. Everything else seemed to work fine. With a 50$ spray paint job on the fender, and a used radiator and headlight, this car was good to go. Absolutely great fun for months.
The Struggles
It was unknown whether this vehicle had the common intermediate shaft (IMS) Bearing replaced. There is a sticker in the door panel, but there were no records.
No radio, required a custom power window setup with separate switches. This was part of the fun.
Final Outcome
Sold to Copart/cashforcars for $1,300. This was an bad experience. They say it's super easy and you just get an instant offer, which is true. Then they make you talk to people on the phone and answer a bunch of questions you already answered, then you have to go through multiple rounds of taking pictures of the car from a variety of different angles, send pictures of your license and the title, etc. Contrast that with peddle which is click a couple of buttons and done, for about the same price.
The Experience
Awesome - minimal work, for a ton of fun. This showed me how getting the car delivered to your driveway is actually a much better experience than all the other buying mechanisms.
