Possibly, if you're looking for LARP-ing being a racecar driver.

The author has a long history of live action role playing many activities in life. There is absolutely nothing intrinsically wrong with this approach, it just is not the best approach for automotive fun. The best approach is a 20 year old sports car with zero barriers between you and the open road.

Andretti Racing Experience

The author has driven one open wheel, de-tuned race car on a short oval track in Richmond, VA. This was part of the Andretti Racing Experience. An hour of class time, a nomex suit up, a 15 min car debrief, and then about 20 mins of actual driving. The focus for this particular driver was on following instructions to keep distance between you and the car in front and behind, as directed by the radio spotter. The expectation was overwhelm from a powerful machine. The actual outcome was "I wish I could do that for about 4 straight hours". Just when I was starting to get into it, time was up. $400 for 20 hours is not cost effective. Cool experience though.

Karting

Rush Hour Karting in Garner, NC is OK. Fast enough carts, good enough experience. It's just too expensive for what you get. $20 for a 10 minute race. Racing for two hours once a week is a car payment.

What about track days, 24 hours of lemons, champ car/chump car, autocross, etc.

The author finds these setup and rules too tedious. For yours truly, 90+ percent of the joy is machinery operation, and self-competition. Perfectly suited for high-communication vehicles with easy access. Apparently there is no head to head competition itch that needs to be scratched.

Can be as soon as next day after auction
